Question: Should I take TOEFL or IELTS? I want to apply as an undergraduate student to USA, Australia and the UK and want to take either TOEFL or IELTS and not sure which one (don't want to waste my time/money doing both). Which one should I take that is preferred by all countries in general?

TOEFL is most widely accepted in the US.
IELTS is most widely accepted in the UK.
Both are widely accepted in Australia.

That being said, it doesn’t depend on which Country you want to study in. It depends more on the university you want to go to. Some schools only accept TOEFL scores and others only accept IETLS scores. Universities in Australia generally accept both.
